This notice explains how OBD7StarTech (“we”, “us”) handles information when you browse this website or contact us about a vehicle, booking, service, or product. We do not operate an online customer account or take payment through this website.
Information you may choose to share
If you contact us by WhatsApp, phone, or email, you may share your name and contact details; vehicle make, model, year or VIN; symptoms, fault codes, photographs or documents; location and preferred appointment time; and messages about a quote, service, or order. Please send only information needed for your enquiry. You do not need to send a VIN unless we explain why it is needed.
How we use it
- Respond to enquiries and confirm vehicle coverage.
- Prepare quotes, arrange and perform the service you request, and provide follow-up support.
- Verify authorization for vehicle-security or module work where appropriate.
- Keep business, warranty, safety, and transaction records and meet legal obligations.
- Protect the website and business from misuse or fraud.
WhatsApp and other providers
WhatsApp links open a service operated by Meta. The message is not sent just by opening the link; you choose whether to send it. If you send a message, WhatsApp and Meta process it under their own terms and privacy information, and our business account receives it. Calls and email are handled by their respective providers. Product pages may link to third-party images, manuals, or resources; opening those links takes you to the provider’s service.
Website hosting and security systems may process technical request data such as IP address, requested page, date and browser information in server logs. PHP pages use a necessary session cookie for admin sign-in and request security. The website does not ask visitors to create a customer account or enter payment-card information. The pages reviewed do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
VIN decoder
The VIN decoder’s offline VAG mode processes the VIN in your browser and does not send it to this website or another service. It returns basic VIN sections, a possible year code, and an optional make selected by you. A small local vehicle profile may also match VIN sections against a build-sheet record supplied to us; the profile does not contain the full VIN or serial number. This does not identify every vehicle model or specification. If you choose the separate online lookup and agree, the VIN and any model year you enter pass through this website to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) vPIC service. We use them only to request the decode and do not save them in the website database. That online request creates ordinary technical server traffic, and NHTSA may process it under its own policies.
Sharing, storage, and retention
We use information for the purposes above and limit access to people who need it to respond or provide the requested service. We do not sell enquiry details. If a job requires sharing information with a manufacturer, supplier, delivery provider, or another service provider, we will explain what is needed and seek any authorization required for that work. Some online service providers may process data outside Sri Lanka.
We keep enquiry information only as long as needed to respond and manage the relationship. Records that must be retained for accounting, warranty, safety, or other legal reasons are kept for the applicable period. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete it or make it no longer identifiable.
Your choices and requests
You can choose not to send optional information. You may contact us to ask what information we hold about you or to request correction or deletion. We may need to retain some records for legal, safety, warranty, or dispute reasons. We will handle requests under applicable Sri Lankan law.
Security and changes
We use reasonable safeguards for information under our control. No internet transmission or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure. We may update this notice when our services or legal obligations change; the updated date will appear at the top of this page.
